Unexpected…
Thank you, Team Asher, for all your continued prayers and encouragement!!! As most of you know, for the past couple weeks I’ve started to have episodes of placental abruption/detachment which causes bleeding. We have come to learn from our medical team during the events of this past weekend that this can typically start the pre-term labor process in the next couple weeks (Week 28-30). This would be surely ahead of our “Believing God Date, March 21st" at 34 weeks. BUT GOD!!!
Pray with us… Episodes would stop, fluid would continue to be retained (Living Water we believe is there too :)), and Asher would be able to keep growing inside!!! He’s a little 2.2 lb’er right now and could stand to gain a little more weight for the outside world :))))
Pray for us… Our faith would remain strong in this next part of the journey. Honestly, we have not sat around this hospital the past month in desperate prayer for Asher’s life. We have been filled to overflow with God’s grace and have been standing on the truth’s of His word with faith, peace and hope. Yesterday, I just had a passing thought a couple times that I’ve not had, “O gosh, I hope he lives…”. It was a brief thought, but just being real… It just caught me off guard that we really don’t know the end yet… BUT GOD!
Continued Updates:: I don’t have a plan to keep the blog up to date for updates and prayer as things would happen more day to day, but I am sure my mom and brother will be posting on their Facebook - Robin DeWitt - https://www.facebook.com/robin.dewitt.54 or Ben DeWitt -https://www.facebook.com/ben.dewitt.549.
Mailing Address: Jonny and Hannah Picard, 248 McDaniels Lane, Springboro Ohio 45066 Many of you have been asking for our address and what we might need during this time… With room changes that may happen, our home address will be best for mail moving forward. Hospital mail has been great, so anything sent here should still be good though too. Gift cards for gas, parking, and occasional non-hospitals meal have been and will continue to be such a blessing as the journey with Asher will continue with weeks in the NICU once he makes his appearance! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!
WEEKEND IN REVIEW IF YOU LIKE KNOWING MORE DETAILS…
We’ve started to see a pattern that these placental episodes may be activated by more movement (walking), but also times of sitting upright in a chair that puts more pressure on my uterus. I am on a stricter bed rest to try to keep them at bay if possible.
On Saturday night, I had another episode that continued for about 5 hours (others last about an hour). This time, Asher’s heart rate went up to a scary level and I was immediately put back on IV with fluids that helped to stabilize him. We were immediately sent to PICU Labor and Delivery as I was also having contractions that were 3 minutes apart - oh my!!! From observation my cervix is still closed and I am not dilated at all. These contractions were most likely caused by uteral irritation from the bleeding. They were able to stabilize me and calm the contractions and monitor us through the night if we needed to move into emergency delivery mode. All settled. Praise the Lord!!!
By Sunday morning we were back to our room and continue to be in close contact with our team. We arrived back just in time to order in a smorgasbord of food from the outside world and have a “normal” evening watching the Super Bowl with Dani and Q, Jonny’s sister and our brother-in-love. So fun!!!
Praise Highlights:
During our ultrasound on Friday, we got to spend about an hour with our Tech/new friend talking about our spiritual journeys and sharing with him about Jesus and a relationship with God compared to world religions. Pray with us that God would reveal Himself to our friend in a way that changes him and his family for eternity!!!
I have connected with a new sweet nurse friend in the past week, Kristen. She and her husband met while she was in Cambodia doing missionary work and now live here in the US with there two young kiddos. She has been so sweet to stop by this week after work and was actually scheduled to work on Sunday morning in the PICU Labor and Delivery unit we were in. She came by and chatted with us and laid her hands on my belly to pray for Asher. So thankful for these divine, special moments!!!
Our friend Stef (also our wedding weekend coordinator), is a support staff here at MVH and continues to come by when she’s scheduled to visit with us and leave sweet encouragements with us. What a blessing!
God continues to open doors of conversation about Himself as we get to know our team more personally along the way.
Jonny went in to work today to sign his offer letter and start the paperwork. Official start date TBD based on paperwork clearance. Trusting God for His timing with this job starting and Asher’s arrival!!
