Peace that passes all understanding
““Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7”
In yesterday’s blog I was a little intense… It can be such a raw and emotional filled journey in trying to make the best decision for Asher’s care… If you’ve known me for any time, you probably know that I can have a tendency to seemingly almost pull a quick trigger and then come back more rational quickly after…
To be clear, we still had our appointment today with Dr. Reddy (in picture with me) at Miami Valley where I began this process on Monday and spent the 24 hour overnight for IV fluids and antibiotics.
We talked as a family last night and had clarity that before we would make a final decision about going to UC for another opinion we would go into todays appointment with prayerfully directed questions and keep an open door, being careful not to burn any bridges as it was miraculous to get this process started so quickly with anyone in the area.
God just showed up soooo huge!
We were honest with Dr. Reddy about our experience and concerns. She was not at all aware of the change made by the maternal fetal medicine team in the planned length of stay. We had an honest and sincere conversation where she heard our hearts and shared her perspective. She was so sorry that we were communicated with like that and assured us that her team of doctors has never made a medical decision for care based on someones finances. Jonny, his mom and I all felt a peace as we continued our conversation with additional questions and received clarity on the plan ahead. Something that meant a lot to me was that she brought a chair into our room and spent about an hour talking with us and was in no rush at all.
During our time I got to reaffirm that we understand the reality of this situation medically, but at the same time we have a supernatural perspective and belief for what God is and can be doing behind the scenes. This is the verse I shared with her, “Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7. I love how God opens doors to share Him with others!!!!
She confirmed to us she is committed to doing all that she can do and is believing with us for Asher’s life.
We now feel a huge settling and affirmation that God led us to Dr. Reddy and this team. We will not pursue another opinion at UC as we believe God confirmed in our hearts and minds that this will be the best hospital for us for care and location. After Asher is born, she assured us that Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center would be the next place of care if Miami Valley felt they couldn’t support his needs for some reason. She has no reason to believe at this time that would even be necessary.
Asher’s ultrasound today looked awesome (except for the continued fact we’ll never see lungs and will have to continue to believe God put them there even though we can’t see:)). He was moving around, opening his mouth, eyes were moving, bladder was full, kidneys and stomach were looking great, heart beat right on point, legs all stretched out and… There is 1cc more of fluid in another part of the sac!!!! 8-24cc’s is the average amount and we are only at 3 BUT GOD!!!!!!
The next step…
Unless, I start to show signs of infection or pre-term labor this week, I will be admitted on January 7th, 2019, at the 23 weeks and 5 days mark. 23 weeks marks the point of possible viability for Asher outside of the womb. I will stay admitted for the duration of the pregnancy under daily observation to continue being in a safe place for care as soon as it would be needed. The goal would be to not meet Asher until week 34, April 17th!
In the meantime, I’ll be here sharing the journey on the blog as God leads… It helps me keep my focus and I am so encouraged that so many people are in this with us all over the world.
TEAM ASHER! :)
The faith adventure of a lifetime continues! Jonny and I can’t wait to meet this little man!!!!
To God be ALL the glory!
