The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord

We are turning a new corner and would love your prayers.

As you may know, I was admitted to hospital on Christmas Eve for 48 hours of IV fluids and antibiotics for continued observation and tests to identify the reason why there is no amniotic fluid. We have concluded that somewhere in the past 4-6 weeks I most likely have had a ruptured membrane that is causing the fluid to leak out. It’s a miracle Asher is still inside because typically that would cause me to go into pre-term labor within 24 hours - 7 days of that happening!

About 20 hours into my stay the “on call” doctor came in the room and his exact words were, “I found out some terrible news… You are self pay.” I was a little thrown off and made sure to be clear that just because I am self pay/pursue discounts with my coverage through Christian Healthcare Ministries that money should not dictate the care I receive and we are fine financially. Despite me sharing this, they had already planned to stop IV fluid care and give me one more round of antibiotics and release me at the 24 hour point.

Since then I have been unsettled and very concerned about the care we are receiving. Are they caring for me and Asher or only concerned about financial gain and don’t believe Asher has a chance.

Through prayer and conversation this morning, we have decided to pursue the walk-in clinic opportunity at the University of Cincinnati Hospital and get another opinion. UC is closer to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center (#5 Neonatal ICU unit in the country) which once Asher is delivered would be an option for his continued care if he was in trauma.

We have a peace that passes all understanding, but we are surely grieving throughout the process, not the thought of losing Asher, but the challenges of each day and not knowing at times who we can trust with his little life.

Thank you for your prayers and believing with us for our little miracle!
