God's Timing... Peace in delay.

Life can quickly change here in the NICU.

This morning as I nursed Asher and talked with our neonatologist, we celebrated that he'd be doing home tomorrow.

Then…

Just a few minutes later, after she had gone and we moved into the bottle feeding portion of feeding, he had two apnea incidents. These can happen as he changes body position and his oxygen saturation drops due to his chin being too close to his chest or he forgets to breath while he eats and even with our pacing of the milk we can’t always catch that moment.

Today was the first time that I honestly didn't know if he was going to come back to gather himself and as I worked with him (patting, talking, changing position) I had to yell for my nurse. Oh my…

Momma tears for sure…

Can’t imagine being home at a moment like that.

So now… 5 days.

Research shows that 5 days without incident means that he has outgrown this stage of life as a preemie.

5 days without incidents and we can look once again at planning to go home.

I am so grateful for an amazing team who takes this journey with him so seriously and is looking out for his/our best interest.

PRAISE ::

Last night he passed his car seat! Kept his vitals up for an hour and a half in the seat and didn’t have any changes for 30 minutes once he got back into bed.

Many of you have continued to ask what we need… First of all, THANK YOU for being so kind and caring!!!! We live amazed and blessed by your generosity!!! ! Life is still happening mainly here at the hospital and since I am no longer an admitted patient we are no longer on a meal plan. The cafeteria is a huge blessing and is pretty affordable. Gift cards and monies are the biggest blessing in helping us right now. .A dear friend surprised us and set up a Gofundme to help with ongoing expenses from these months here at MVH and life with our new little man once we get home and really see what we need for his day to day life. Being here so long has allowed for a lot of prep lol.
