Asher's 29th Week-Aversary - 3lbs and 5 ounces!!!!!

I can’t believe we’ve been here in this room at MVH for 41 Days?!?!?!? But it’s all worth it!!!

Asher hit 29 Weeks/2 Days and is weighing in above average at 3 pounds and 5 ounces!!!

YEAH!!!

Yesterday, we are started the 34 Day countdown to March 21st (Week 34 Induction/Delivery Date) with the continued HOPE that I will not get an infection and Asher will not have any complications that put us into pre-term labor before then.

He is defying the odds and still sitting tight.

PRAISE THE LORD!

The yet unanswered question upon delivery will be… Have his lungs formed with the ruptured/water breaking at about 14 weeks? One of our resident doctors told me this morning that his final ultrasound report yesterday shows that his heart is taking up more room than is normal which shows signs of pulmonary hydroplasia (incomplete development of the lungs, resulting in an abnormally low number or size of bronchopulmonary segments or alveoli) from the loss of fluid.

BUT GOD! Jonny and I believe God is answering these questions and Asher will be thriving with no immediate or long term complications. OUR GOD IS NOT NORMAL! :)

God continues to give us grace and strength for each day. Jonny starts work on Monday so the days will surely be different for me here at MVH. He and I have been blessed to spend about 10-12 hours a day together since Jan 7th. I believe God will have new things in store for me during the days - new visitors, new conversations with the staff, new things for me to pray about and process, new Made to Praise projects to do from my bed, and more!

Praises from this past week:

  • Super fun weekend with Kim Cuz! What a surprise!!! God brought a snow day for her!!!

  • We ordered a book for Asher, On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman, and one of our OB team docs had stopped by for a check-in when it came in the mail. He seemed curious about it so I asked him if he’d like to stay for “story time” - he did!!! :) It’s the little moments here at MVH!

    Continued Updates::
    I don’t have a plan to keep the blog up to date for updates and prayer as things would happen more day to day, but I am sure my mom and brother will be posting on their Facebook - Robin DeWitt - https://www.facebook.com/robin.dewitt.54 or Ben DeWitt -https://www.facebook.com/ben.dewitt.549.

    Mailing Address:
    Jonny and Hannah Picard, 248 McDaniels Lane, Springboro Ohio 45066 Many of you have been asking for our address and what we might need during this time… With room changes that may happen, our home address will be best for mail moving forward. Hospital mail has been great, so anything sent here should still be good though too. Gift cards for gas, parking, and occasional non-hospitals meal have been and will continue to be such a blessing as the journey with Asher will continue with weeks in the NICU once he makes his appearance! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!
