Today... 2 Months!
Today… I continue to celebrate and praise God for the miracle that is our son, Asher Benjamin.
Today… Asher is almost 3 months old on June 12th. He’s 1 month “adjusted age” until he catches up developmentally during this first year or so.
Today… Asher is about 11 lbs, a growing boy with the cutest chubby cheeks.
Today… Asher is fighting sleepiness in his crib and crying with those sweet lungs that God breathed His life into.
Today… I was planning to go back to Miami Valley Hospital and visit a gal who is in my old room, 2117, and ruptured at 22 weeks. Dr. Thomas (the doctor who called us to pray for a miracle like that parting of the Red Sea) called me last week and asked if I would like a ministry opportunity to connect with this gal who I have so much in common with related to our pregnancies. She texted me over the weekend and we planned that I would take Asher and go visit with her later today.
Last night, I received a text saying this wouldn’t be a good day for her. I totally understand that days can change, but just checked in with her to be everything was ok. She is a first time momma and these weeks on bedrest hoping to get to 34 weeks without complications could be the hardest of her life.
I received this message back… “No everything was fine earlier today when I was on the monitor… then I couldn't feel him move for a few hours so she put me back on the monitor then couldn’t find the heart beat. Then the ultrasound came and still nothing. We lost our sweet boy.”
I lost it. Sobs that I didn't even know where inside. I had experienced 65 days of this same monitoring, moments of not being able to find his heart beat, and many days I never felt Asher move for hours and hours… What a reminder of the truly miraculous gift that Asher was to us.
She was later in her pregnancy so not even a real question about the lungs, he had a full bladder even though fluid was never much of any like us, she was 25 weeks and getting into the better chances range of him making it on his own once he delivered, she was hopeful for little Liam, and yet the story ended so tragically.
A heart that stopped beating. A life that stopped living. A baby in heaven with a mom who is grieving.
Today… She will deliver and meet her son who’s little spirit is in heaven. I can’t even imagine the pain. I trust that God will be who He says He is, The God of all comfort.
Today… I am trusting that God knows better than I do why we would see the miracle and my new friend did not.
Pray with me we would possibly have more connections as I follow the Lord in reaching out to her.
Pray with me she would draw closer to God not move further away (I don’t know her place spiritually).
Pray with me she would have another opportunity to have a healthy baby with no complications.
Last night, as I was texting Dr. Thomas, this song, Split the Seas, was playing on the radio and caught my attention… I had never heard it before and it was truly incredible to hear it on this specific night. God did split the sea for us and I pray that even though in this moment for my new friend it didn’t happen, I pray she would still always believe that He can. He is still good.
