Our Red Sea Moment
We arrived to see our new doctor, Dr. Reddy, at Miami Valley Hospital, Magnolia Women's Center, on Monday morning and were blown away by the kindness of the staff we started to meet from the moment we walked in the door. We felt so safe and cared for. Dr. Reddy went over our records and then quickly sent us to High Risk to start the process with fresh eyes and perspective to give little Asher the best care we could. Sweet Mrs. Kathy who checked us in told us that they were triple booked for ultrasounds that morning, but patients weren’t showing up so we could get right in. MIRACLE!!!!
The ultrasound showed our little Asher continuing to thrive and he still had an awesome heartbeat. Then we saw it… ONE LITTLE POCKET OF 2 CC’s of FLUID!!!! Not at all enough or really any for that matter in the medical work but to us - THE NEXT MIRACLE!!!
As we met with the Maternal Medicine team after ultrasound we again heard that this was a very difficult situation that Asher was in to say the least, BUT NOW THEY HAD A PLAN FOR US.
I was admitted right after this conversation on Christmas eve to the prenatal ICU for continued observation and 48 hours of IV fluids and antibiotics.
Following these 48 hours, the plan would be that I head home to Jonny’s parents where we are living now for a season and I’ll take 5 days of oral antibiotics. The risk of infection for me is high as the reality is that my water had broke prematurely (maybe about a month ago when I thought I was having incontinence and more likely I had ruptured amniotic membrane). Typically a little one will go into pre-term labor within 24 hours - 7 days of this happening BUT GOD… He was keeping little Asher to continue growing. THE NEXT MIRACLE!
I will be sent home tomorrow, December 26th with 5 days of oral antibiotics. Once I hit week 23, little Asher is at a point where the hospital feels we may be able to help him out of the womb if I went into premature labor. They will admit me next week, Jan 2nd or 3rd for the duration of my pregnancy and we will believe for us to get Asher to 34 weeks. At no point will we know how his lungs are developing or if they even have started to, BUT GOD!
Another amazing Doctor saw us last night and he is an amazing Christian man, Dr. Thomas! (picture above) We had a wonderful time together testifying of the miracles in God’s word and praying together for little Asher. ANOTHER MIRACLE!!!
Dr. Thomas was faith-filled with us, but also sincere in telling us that though the medical team here will do their best for our care, we are in our RED SEA MOMENT. If God doesn’t part the sea, we will have to trust Him in grief.
Jonny and I, on bended knee have committed to believing God to part the Red Sea! Please agree with us in prayer for this.
Regardless of the end, we want God’s will, but have gone a step beyond to asking and believing God for the miracle of Asher’s life. Not just a life, but thriving, healthy, no residual affects of the lack of fluid life. A life where Asher walks closely with God, impacts others he meets and testifies of the greatness of our God.
As I sit here now on Christmas morning before the sun is even up and doctors and nurses come by to check on me, I am amazed at the hand of the Lord through it all. There are surely moments of tears and uncertainty in our humanness, BUT GOD has entrusted Jonny and I with a journey of FAITH and HOPE. Truly the meaning of Christmas.
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:36”
Jonny is my sweetest Christmas gift ever!!!
Mom made me these pj’s years ago as she went through a season of believing the Lord for healing from cancer - she has been healed!
